Normally I take pleasure in being aware of my surroundings. I love being "ready" with the correct change or my card swiped when my shopping order is done. I love efficiency!! Just one of the lessons my husband has taught me these past 37 years!! Get a land mark when you park the car in any parking lot so you will remember when you come back. (check) Whenever any gauge or light comes on in the car while you are driving let me know (check) Keep some 'in case' money (check) Keep all receipts (check) Use your debit card when buying groceries (check)
Today was my typical Friday shopping with my Mom and my sister Dawn! The three of us really have fun in Wal-mart! They usually start off in a different direction than I do and we meet in the cereal or soup isle. When I find them I say in a loud voice, "Donna, Dawn it is so good to see you both! How have you been?" They both start to laugh and 'try' to walk fast so as not to notice me.
Today we were checking out in two different lines. The nice cashier told me my total, I swiped my card and proceeded to put my groceries in the cart. She said, "Mame, the transaction was not allowed" "What?" "Would you like to swipe your card again?" "Yes, thank you. I know it is working, I just used in the Pharmacy" For the second time she handed me a small piece of paper the size of the paper found in fortune cookies!!! It said Transaction not allowed!
Then she said, "Mame, you are using your drivers license" Oh my heart!!! I looked and sure enough I grabbed my license instead of my debit card. My first thought was ' what a blond' and I'm so glad I didn't say that. The nice lady behind me was a blond. We all laughed and I swiped my debit and finished.
The moral of the story: Double check or as my grandson Connor says, "Check yea!"
